SOLIDARITY MEDIA NETWORK
a project of Sentient.Art.Film
WHO WE ARE
We are media organizers. We believe that media is more than entertainment; it is world building. We cannot build a more equitable society if we cannot imagine it. Media feeds our imaginations and has the potential to empower us to build more liberated futures.
Founded in 2025, Solidarity Media Network is working to build a more just society through intentional and care-centered media production and circulation. We produce creator-centered content made by systems-impacted media makers. We license and circulate media that supports infrastructures of care. We provide certified apprenticeships for highly qualified media makers who are returning home after long periods of incarceration and are interested in pursuing careers in audio-visual production.
OUR VALUES
We value care, co-creation, and authenticity.
CARE: Systems-impacted communities and individuals often carry a significant amount of trauma. In our goal to undo systems of harm, we look to care as a guiding principle. We look for ways to bring care into our organizational systems and workflows. We are a trauma-informed workplace. In addition to having systems in place that minimize the risk of harm, we have developed tools that allow us to understand how to support our team when they are triggered.
CO-CREATION: We co-create all of our media content with systems-impacted media makers. We center community engagement and prioritize direct contact and communication with the people who most need to engage with our programming.
AUTHENTICITY: We defer to the creative choices of our content creators to the broadest degree possible. We see our work as helping to amplify their unique voices, not to censor them or fit them into a traditional mold.
